Accepting the simplicity as key for social game designers
Steve Meretzky, a VP at Playdom, disagreed. He recalled that when he started to think about joining the space in October of 2008, “I was looking at games and saying, ‘Wow, these are so simple. Imagine as we start layering in more complexity and depth and detail … .’ And really, my journey over the first year in this space was coming to accept the fact that it’s the very simplicity of these games that makes them so widely successful.

My experiences echo Meretzky's, even if my personal revelation come with various types of lottery games. Once again, this is not to say more complexity could not thrive in social games, but the depth in this sense should not be evaluated only in terms of the types of games as we are used to know them, but also in terms of what we know about social interactions, as Meretzky also points out - check out the whole article from Edge online.
